Digg has been busy in the last few months trying to incorporate ads into its homepage. In addition to its Sponsored Digg Ads, Digg is currently testing a new type of ad that matches articles both old and new to their related ads.
According to TechCrunch, “[n]ot only [do the ads] link back to the story’s permalink page, but it routes it through a DoubleClick referral… Digg is getting paid for each of these clicks, while users are being sent to content that quite likely do actually want to go to. Win-win”. Digg’s approach is innovative in that it incorporates what users do on the site with what advertisers are looking to achieve.
