More for less is an equation everybody likes. Unfortunately, it’s usually one that’s too good to be true. However, Compendium recently came up with a list of ways to generate good content even when you’re strapped for time. The ideas I like the most are to create contests to motivate your writers to not only get more posts you can use, but to help create and select some really good original content! Compendium suggests:
- Employee contest - if it’s difficult to get your employee’s to blog, try asking them to submit stories to you (the administrator).
- Customer contest - have a contest for your customers – send out an email to customers and ask them to share their story of how they use your product.

All customers created equal?
Seth Godin argues that no, they aren’t ~ and marketers shouldn’t be happy with just anyone as their customer. He postulates that:
Sell to angry cheapskates and your business will reflect that. On the other hand, when you find great customers, they will eagerly co-create with you. They will engage and invent and spread the word.
He suggests instead honing in on your target audience and going after them ~ after all, your audience reflects on your business and vice versa!
Holidays are in the air
The holiday spirit is all over the blog world. Forrester Blog informs us that online holiday retail sales will actually be up this year by 8% – a pretty impressive number considering the recession we’re dealing with! They qualify that by saying that although “consumers will be shopping, but will also hold a tight grip on their purse strings. ” And retailers will be handling things a bit differently, too, but the news still sounds good!
